INFORMATION The Berks County
Learning Disabilities Association (BCLDA) is a chapter of the Learning Disabilities
Association of Pennsylvania (LDAP) and also an affiliate of the Learning Disabilities
Association of America (LDA). Our local association has its offices in Building K of the
Reading Hospital. The state office is in Uwchland, Pennsylvania and our national office is
in Pittsburgh. BCLDA is a non-profit volunteer organization whose members provide support,
guidance and information to parents, professionals, as well as, individuals with learning
disabilities. Our local
organization was formed in 1969 and incorporated in 1970 to stimulate public and private
action to meet the needs of individuals with learning disabilities. Our membership is
currently one hundred and twenty one individuals or agencies represented by an individual.
HOW
IS BCLDA TRYING TO HELP?
Berks
County Learning Disabilities Association was formed in 1969 to
stimulate public and private action to meet the needs of this
group of individuals with disabilities. The Associations
membership includes parents, adults who have learning
disabilities, interested friends, and professionals in medicine,
education, and the social sciences, who are concerned with the
problems of individuals with learning disabilities.

BCLDA is a
501c3 organization. Donations to BCLDA are tax deductible.
BCLDA's federal tax return, application for tax exempt status
and exemption letter are available for inspection upon request
by calling 610-988-8457.
A newsletter is distributed
three times a year. It is
distributed to members and identified community leaders, physicians, psychologists, school
district administrators and guidance counselors, and all special education teachers in the
eighteen area school districts of the county. The newsletter provides our members with
information of interest to the LD community, meeting times and places, and up-to-date
facts and information about current legislation and court decisions.
