CHECKLIST OF COMMON
LEARNING DISABILITY SYMPTOMS

  1. Hyperactivity – is always moving, Hypoactivity – seems to be overly lethargic
  2. Distractibility and /or short attention span.
  3. Immature Speech and Language Development: difficulty expressing spoken or written language; poor language development.
  4. Difficulty in Following Directions – forgets assignments and direction.
  5. Poor Eye-Hand Coordination – especially in fine motor activities (writing, drawing).
  6. Confused About Direction and Time – right/left, yesterday/tomorrow, before/after.
  7. Very Poor Reading Ability – reverses letters or whole words, leaves out words entirely, skips several lines completely when reading.
  8. Low Frustration Level – cries, screams, withdraws, sulks, fights at a moment’s notice.
  9. Impulsive or Aggressive Behavior – speaks out in class or perhaps carries a "chip" on his shoulder.
  10. Perseveration – meaningless repetition; inability to stop an activity at the appropriate time, asks the same questions over and over.
  11. Disorganized – can’t find his place in the line or his turn in the game; loses his belongings.
  12. Difficulty Understanding Mathematical Concepts.
  13. Poor Phonetic Discrimination – Inability to follow a sequence of sounds or repeat a set of instructions after you.
  14. Clumsy – poor in sports, peer relationships poor, spoils game, won’t play.
  15. Fluctuating levels of performance from Day to Day.
